My foremost thanks go our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ who gives me the fortitude to whithstand this ordeal and have the clarity mind to investigate what different sources have discovered about this dis-ease. I think that having a strong faith is key to living with this condition, given that our hope is not in the temporal but in the eternal.

Roy Laver Swank (1909–2008) discovered that there is a direct correlation between MS relapses and the amount of saturated fat consumed. Based on his research he devised recomendations on what to eat. As a summary the recomendations would been

  • Avoid all saturated fats where beef and pork would be the biggest offenders.
  • Shun all dairy products. For me parting ways with cheese was by far the biggest challenge.
  • Flee from all processed foods. White rice is processed, ready meals can’t be even categorised as food.

John A. McDougall is at the forefront of continuing the work of Swank and is to my knowledge doing a “proper” study of the affects of a low fat diet on MS. John is a great speaker and has a plethora of youtube videos describing his views. Slightly too militan on his views on vegetarian diet to my taste, but extremely valid info newer the less.

George Jelinek’s book on howto get to grips with this dis-ease is yet another piece of evidence that us as ms patients are treated like mushrooms – kept in dark and fed shit – even when confronting our neurologists.

Their V800 sports watch is a throwback to a time when I used to think I could actually do something physica without it been the punch line of a joke. Now it serves me as a reminder that if I don’t get my daily activity up to a hundred persentage or more I will start feeling horid! How refreshing is it to talk to a doctor who shares the view that what we consume is the primary reason for our ailments! Unfortunately a lot of their services aren’t covered neither the national health insurance nor any private insurance. The price alone rules out a majority of punters.

Alan Goldhamer apparently is the guy where Mcdougall sends the patients he cant heal with his diet. Again quite reassuring to hear someone talk about fasting and it’s benefits with confidence, experience and proof.

Loren Lockman as I found is a controversial character, but no question about it he gave me courage to go on a water only fast which will be incorporated into my yearly routine of maintaining my health. As a Christian fasting is a norm, but doing it water only is considered extreme at least where I hail from.
